1941. 1941. The world is radically different from the one described by the usual history. Napoleon V reigns over France, where, as everywhere else on the globe, for 70 years scientists have been mysteriously disappearing, depriving humanity of capital inventions. Ignorant of radio, television, electricity, aviation and the combustion engine, this universe is bogged down in outdated technology, as if asleep in 19th century knowledge, governed by coal and steam. It is in this strange world that a young girl, Avril, sets off in search of her parents, missing scientists, in the company of Darwin, her talking cat, and Julius, a young street rascal. This trio will have to face the dangers and mysteries of this Tricked World. Who has been kidnapping scientists for decades? For what sinister purpose?
